How to Care for Your Tree

Cut Trees Care Guide

Fresh Cut

Make a fresh 2–3 cm cut across the base before placing in a stand.

Water Daily

Use a stand with a water reservoir and keep it topped up daily — trees drink more than you think.

Avoid Heat

Position away from radiators, underfloor heating zones and direct heat to reduce needle drop.

Lifespan

With good care, cut trees typically look their best for around four weeks.

Pot-Grown Trees Care Guide

Timing

Bring indoors as late as possible (the weekend before Christmas is ideal) and keep in a cool room. Limit indoor display to around 10 days.

Watering

Water regularly so the rootball never dries out; return the tree outside after Christmas.

After Christmas

Either plant out once conditions suit, or pot on into a larger container and grow it on for reuse next year. Keep watering consistent.

Frequently Asked Questions

Why Nordmann fir?

Nordmann firs are the UK's favourite premium real tree thanks to their soft needles and notably slow needle-drop indoors — a great choice for families and high-traffic spaces.

What's the difference between cut and pot-grown?

Cut trees are felled and rely on daily watering through the stem to stay fresh. Pot-grown trees are living plants with intact roots; keep them cool, water well, and limit indoor time before moving them back outside.

How long will my tree last?

Expect around four weeks of good display with proper watering and a cool location away from heat sources.

Can I plant my pot-grown tree after Christmas?

Yes — either plant out once conditions suit, or pot on into a larger container and grow it on for reuse next year. Keep watering consistent.
